iScrub…more than a metadata management tool
A client told us how they frequently use iScrub to prove to their users they are “lying” (the word they used) when they say they created a document from scratch, but its behaving strangely. After running it through iScrub’s metadata viewer on one occasion, they saw the name of another firm and a strange attorney in the document properties. The user was quite embarrassed. This alone is a GREAT reason to implement iCreate that makes it faster and easier to repurpose documents without using the age old “Save As”..
With iScrub v7 (release is set for Nov) you will be able to view and manage important new Microsoft Office metadata elements:
- Content Controls
- Custom XML
- Mail Merge data source
Is your metadata management tool handling these new, potentially high risk, metadata elements in your 2007 documents? If not, this could be a huge metadata risk for your firm.
Oh and guess what?! Converting your DOCX documents to DOC doesn’t remove the Custom XML. Just makes it harder (almost impossible) to get to without iScrub
